Methods of Transport
DT Moving will consign your international removal by air, sea or road, using the most appropriate mode of transport to meet your consignment size, budget and delivery requirements. We can also store your goods, short or long term, in our specialist containerised warehouse facilities.
With in-house road and air freight divisions, we are able to leverage competitive pricing.
By Sea
Sea shipment is the most common and cost-effective method of transport for medium to large intercontinental moves and for non-urgent smaller volume consignments. After we have packed your household goods we stow them into a 20 foot or 40 foot-long steel sea-container.
Your goods can be shipped as a Full Container Load (FCL) or Less than Container Load (LCL). FCL is where the sea-container contains just your shipment, typical for complete household moves. LCL is for smaller, partial-household moves where the packed goods are stowed into special wooden cases, then loaded into a shared sea-container.
By Air
Air shipment is a quicker form of transportation and so is usually reserved for smaller 'advance' consignments of personal effects. Once packed, we stow airfreight goods into special 'triwall' cases, made of light and very strong cardboard, keeping costs down whilst ensuring maximum protection during transit.
Whilst the cost of international airfreight consignment is usually higher than for a similar size sea shipment, DT Moving utilises its in-house air freight division for competitive rates.
By Road
Domestic intra-country and intra-European moves are typically served by road transport. We can send a dedicated removal truck, fully staffed to deliver your effects. The timing of the departure and journey is meticulously planned to suit your required delivery schedule.
For smaller volume consignments we offer cost-effective, frequent and scheduled 'part-load' road transport services to most EC and other main European cities or regions.
